Setup broadcasting in Traktor

This tutorial describes how to setup broadcasting in Native Instruments' Traktor (Scratch) Pro. Sign up for a FREE account first to create your own broadcast slot. Then follow the instructions below to connect Traktor and start live streaming you DJ set.

Use our Setup Wizard to connect Traktor
To make your life as easy as possible we have created a setup wizard that helps you to connect Traktor to Livesets. You only need to complete the wizard once because your settings are persistent. Here we go:

  • Log in on Livesets using your new DJ account.
  • Click on "Broadcasting" in the top menu to start our "Broadcast Setup Wizard".
  • Hit the "Configure Traktor" button and follow the instructions.
  • Next; click on the "Connection test" button and again follow the instructions.
  • When done, disconnect Traktor and you have completed the wizard.

That's it, you are now ready to broadcast your DJ set live from Traktor!
We suggest you add a few test sessions first to get familiar with Livesets.

Please note:

  • We broadcast all Traktor live streams in mp3 and ogg Vorbis format.
  • Broadcasting is only available in Traktor Pro and Traktor Scratch Pro.
  • When Traktor fails to connect, the broadcast button in Traktor will blink.
  • If you experience any difficulties, read the additional help below, or our Traktor Tech FAQ.

How do I start broadcasting in Traktor?

You might wonder how to physically enable broadcasting in Traktor after you have added all settings. Follow these steps to do it:

  • Make sure your deck layout is set to "Extend" or "Mixer".
  • Click on the small tape deck beside Effect Unit 2.
  • After it opens, click on the broadcast button (antenna icon).
  • If you entered the correct broadcast settings, the buttons will light up and you are broadcasting.
  • You can change the volume of your broadcast with the Gain knob.

I am broadcasting but I have no audio!

Oke, so now you are connected and broadcasting, but there is no audio in your broadcast! How could this happen? Well, your Traktor settings might need a few additional adjustments. Follow the steps in this section and you will be up and running in no time.

To broadcast audio in Traktor, you need to tell Traktor which audio signal it must broadcast. Traktor uses the same settings for broadcasting as for the Mix recorder. So if you can already record your mixes using Traktor's Mix Recorder, you are already done. If not, follow these instructions carefully.

In Traktor go to "Preferences" > "Mix Recorder". Depending on the hardware you use, you need to set the audio source to "Internal" or "External". Choose the option that suits your situation best:

  1. Source External
Choose when using an analogue mixer with external soundcard and follow this tutorial or this movie.
  2. Source Internal
Choose when using a MIDI mixer with build in soundcard like the Traktor S2/S4, Reloop 3ME, etc...

Now test the sound:

  • In Traktor; close the preference screen.
  • Make sure your deck layout is to "Extend or Mixer".
  • Play a track.
  • Click on the small tape deck beside Effect Unit 2.
  • When the VU-meter in the "Audio recorder" section is showing activity you are done.
  • If not, please repeat this step again, you might have overlooked something.

Note: If you use an external mixer and still have no sound, search Google on how to setup Traktor's mix recorder.
