String & Bates
About
String & Bates are a live act and DJ duo from Ireland currently based in Co. Wicklow. Since 2010 the lads have been creating live sets and DJ performances at festivals such as Life festival, Fuinneamh Festival, Electric Picnic, Mongo, Boxed off, Subsonic (UK) and Secret garden party (UK) regular club appearances on the Dublin & UK scene with some massive warm up slots in District 8, Dublin (Tale of us, Vitallic, Mauro picotto) and Index (Ejeca Trance Wax) and regular appearances on the Bristol scene in the UK with slots in Basement 45 & Lakota with local crew Lower the tone.
In 2015 String & Bates took to the airwaves of Dublin's Phever 93.2fm, hosting Friday night slots with regular local guests as part of "POSITIV FRIDAYS" in association with their energy drink company "POSITIV". In 2017 the pair got back to the studio and began to work on techno creations of their own with sessions to the coveted "Devon Analogue Studio" which saw their first release reaching the light of day on Irish techno label "Day and Night recordings". In June String & Bates were honoured to be given the closing set at Subsonic festival which would be the last and final edition of the festival.
In 2019 the pair moved to Dun Laoghaire and launched a new Techno party bringing Dublin DJ's together in a Local Pub aptly named "The Bar" for DJ sets in their new hometown. Along came 2020 (and we all know what happened next) but the end was not neigh as the pair continued to throw their hand to radio with a residency on Dublin Radio Station DCFM with their brand new show format "Freq Agenda" being aired out across the capital which saw dj sets, interviews and a sonic run down of the hottest vinyl in town from Johnny on the spot which ran for 2 years, 1st Sunday of every month further cementing their efforts to bring Techno bangers with a drop of Jameson to the good people of Ireland and beyond!
Fast forward to 2025 and the lads are celebrating their sweet 15th with an array of momento's, including String & Bates sample pack, Mix of the month series and Batches of Patches series where the lads give away rare and past loved samples and patches from the favorite VST's and tracks. Tune in last Friday of each month for our mix of the month series premiering on the 28th March at 22:30 GMT.
