Digital Gangsters
About
Ladies and gentlemen it is with great pleasure we bring you the dope beats of the Digital Gangsters aka Ollie & Fifties:
Ollie's Story:
A true musician, Ollie's talents were apparent from a young age and nurtured by his music obsessed father: A drummer from age 7, guitarist at 9 and bassist from 13, he also later became a proficient pianist, gaining a wealth of grade 8’s in all disciplines. Becoming disillusioned with the rock and indie scene in the late 90’s his attention changed to focus more on the more electronic side of music, studying Music Technology and Production at university. Running his own club nights aiming to promote the fledgeling breaks scene and using it as a platform to test out his own productions, he was soon snapped up by mighty Finger Lickin' Records as one half of Brothers Bud - their productions played by the likes of Plump DJs, James Zabiela, Dreadzone, Rennie Pilgrem and Radio 1’s Annie Nightingale and Annie Mac to name but a few. Not just an awesome producer, engineering tacks for artists such as Micky Slim, Andy George and Jaymo, he is no stranger to rocking dance-floors at clubs like the legendary Fabric, The Custard Factory and all across Europe. Alas, the breaks scene isn't want it used to be, but he still puts his talents to good use running his own successful music school teaching drums, guitar, bass and music theory. The main producer behind DG, his musical background gives him the edge delivering killer percussion, awesome leads and badass bass lines.
Fifties' Story:
Lou 'Fifties' O'Donnell is a DJ, blogger, graphic designer and artist hailing from Co.Antrim in Northern Ireland. Her and Ollie share similar backgrounds. Both growing up in very musical households, this indie kid of the nineties grew tired of the scene and discovered house music whilst at art college in Lincoln. It was though MySpace that she began to get noticed for her eye catching designs and flawless mixtapes, gaining support from her peers. An artist to the end, from these small beginnings, she has worked for the likes of Carl Cox's Intec label, Andy George & Jaymo's Moda, Chew the Fat!, Meat Katie's Lot49, On the Rise DJ Academy, Kid Breaks and Aquasky's Passenger label. With over a decade experience behind the decks she gained praise from both DJMag and iDJ Magazine. She has also been a major contributing to Life Support Machine blog since 2011 keeping her at the forefront of the scene. With a very keen ear for a good tune and knowing what will work on the dance-floor, she makes up the other half of the duo.
After meeting through mutual friends and over 15 years of clubbing together and a mutual love of dirty, bass fulled beats, 2019 saw the pair finally get in the studio together to see what happened. Its been a great year for the Gangsters so far getting their first track - Snakebite released, delivering their first DJ mix (which hit top 10 in the Mixcloud Breakbeat chart) and playing their first ever gig together …. the future looks exciting for the double act!
