DJ duo Amés Kelapa were brought together through a shared a love for music. Their varied backgrounds mean that their track selections compliment eachother and sometimes don’t which makes for an interesting listen.
They’ve been mixing together since 2014 playing at parties and gigs together.
In 2018 The Thursday Night Warm-up with Amés Kelapa was born. A live show streamed/broadcast across numerous platforms and continues to this day. Currently hosting a weekly guest mix from DJs around the world. The show features tracks from many different genres including Trance, Tech House, DNB, G-House, Jackin’ House, Bassline, Garage, House, Deep, Electro, Big Room, EDM, Dubstep….. The list goes on.
2019 started with a bang, being asked to join DEVIDE. UK based events organization.
Kelapa’s first introduction to the music scene was playing the drums in a punk rock band in the early noughties.
Being an avid skateboarder he naturally progressed to Hip-Hop and bought a pair of Gemini turntables with Vestax mixer.
In his mid teens to early twenties he found a passion for Drum and Bass frequenting raves in the South West such as Plymouth Dance Academy and making the annual jaunt to Global Gathering.
With yearly visits to Ibiza standard Kelapa discovered a newfound love for House music and got back on the decks using his varied musical background to influence the music he plays.
In 2019 the opportunity to become a director of DIVIDE events arose. The bull was grabbed by the horns so watch this space for some epic events.
Brought up on Michael Jackson, Simply Red & Phil Collins, Amés first taste of Dance music was Children by Robert Miles and later purchased The Ministry of Sounds Annual Millennium Edition introducing him to Trance. This was his catalyst to get some decks, a mixer, some vinyl and begin mixing in 2000.
He’s always been a regular at local events networking with organizers and DJs including Judge Jules.
In the early years he hosted house parties, Mixed at weddings & birthdays to keep the bunts coming in.
A big fan of Jackin’, Funky and Soulful House bringing a different twang to the Amés Kelapa tables.
Recently he’s networking and DJing at a number of South West events for various brands & had a couple of sets in IBIZA clubs.
